About us
As far as we know, the building served as a residential home around the year 1900. The lower ground floor was used as a hospital for a number of years. We have actually had guests staying who were born here. During World War II, the Germans used the house, and over the years the municipality has also used the building. For over 40 years, the hotel was run on site by three different owners.
We took over the hotel and all its history in October 1999, when it was a two-star hotel with 19 rooms and a shower and toilet in the corridor. Breakfast was served in two rooms and there was a single TV in the living room shared by all hotel guests.
Since then, we have continuously renovated the hotel, including a major excavation of the bicycle cellar. This is now home to the large breakfast restaurant and modern meeting facilities. Next, the hotel was transformed into a three-star hotel with 60 rooms and two hotel apartments. During one of the renovations, all rooms were fitted with their own en- suite bathroom.
In 2021 – in the midst of corona restrictions and uncertain times for the hotel world – we realised a long-awaited dream! The two apartments on the 4th floor were demolished and we began another major renovation. From January 2022, we have been able to welcome our guests in renovated surroundings.
We hope that all our guests will be happy with the improvements we have made in the common areas – especially our roof terrace. And that those who want a little more comfort can now choose the 12 new Double Superior or Junior Suite rooms with ventilation on the 4th floor.
Plans for renovating all the floors are in full swing, because our vision is to offer modern rooms and cosy surroundings to all our guests.
The modernisation not only applies to the building, but also to our digital area, which we have updated ourselves. Our wi-fi service has been upgraded and we now offer online check-in/check-out and Mobilekey to guests who want it.
The most important thing, however, is that we still take the same pleasure in being able to welcome you all to a cosy and homely stay at Hotel Sct. Thomas!
